What is an AiRTX Cabinet Cooler?
AiRTX Cabinet Coolers provide environmentally friendly, low cost cooling for electronic control panels in hot and hazardous conditions. They condition the air inside electrical
enclosures, eliminating downtime due to heat, dirt and moisture. The AiRTX cabinet coolers incorporate a vortex tube to produce cold air from compressed air, without the
use of moving parts.
How does an AiRTX cabinet cooler work?
As compressed air enters the cabinet cooler through a vortex tube, it is converted into two streams – one hot and one cold. The hot air is exhausted, while the cold air is discharged into the electronic control panel. A built-in relief valve simultaneously purges hot air from the panel. Outside air never enters the panel, eliminating contamination from dirt or moisture. And a thermostat maintains a constant temperature; so cooling is efficient and maintenance-free.
Why install an AiRTX Cabinet Cooler?
When electronics inside a control cabinet overheat, the equipment can shut down or be damaged. Outside cooling methods such as fans or refrigerant air conditioners are unsafe and unreliable as a result of mechanical wear and clogged filters. Not to mention the high costs associated with replacing equipment and lost productivity.
The advantages to using AiRTX cabinet coolers include:
- Environmental responsibility: the electrical thermostat controls compressed air use, guaranteeing efficiency.
- Safety: all Cabinet Coolers are UL and CE Listed and have a lifetime warranty
- Minimal maintenance: our cabinet coolers have no moving parts to wear out, and air filters are eliminated.
- Quick installation: they mount in minutes through an ordinary electrical knockout.
User friendly and durable, these air conditioning systems provide maintenance-free cooling for a lifetime of protection. Simply put, AiRTX cabinet coolers are the most efficient, cost effective and environmentally sound way to cool electronics. |

Dirt, moisture, hazardous or corrosive materials-a bad environment is
the Achilles' heel of industrial electronic systems. And it's a real
hazard when you have to open the cabinet door to prevent heat build-up.
Compressed-Air-operated Stainless Cabinet Control Coolers for Hazardous
Environments
Using a low-cost, reliable Vortex Tube, compressed-air operated AiRTX
Polar™ Cabinet Coolers purge and cool electrical/electronic enclosures
with filtered air that's 45° F colder than your compressed air supply.
A built-in relief valve lets hot air escape from the cabinet enclosure,
while the cooler supplies clean, cold air.
They mount-in minutes-in a standard electrical knockout to maintain
your NEMA 4, 4x, or 12 rating. A built-in, heavy duty muffler makes
the Cabinet Cooler extremely quiet for use in production areas.
Use Them Anywhere!
If you’re an OEM, you’ll find the fit and finish of our Cabinet Coolers
a complement to your own equipment.
Thermostatic systems are highly recommended as they produce a truly
maintenance free cooling system. No forgetting to turn it on or off,
increasing or decreasing air supply on hot days, consuming compressed
air when cooling is not necessary, and no thermal hot and cold changes.
A constant 90°F (32°C) to provide the electronics with a long life.
For double wide cabinets up to 10'W x 6'H x 2'D or cabinets in extreme
hot conditions above 150°F, order Model 70370

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the air consumption of the Control Coolers?
The last two digits of the model number is the air consumption of the compressed
air at 100 psi.
2. Which of the three models, aluminum, stainless, or NEMA 4X, is the most
popular?
For most applications, the stainless is the most popular. It is corrosion proof,
long lasting, and the stainless provides the best cold temperature drop.
3. Which model do I need?
We have several charts to exactly determine your need, but generally, the most
popular model 70025, will cool a cabinet 6’ high by 6’ wide by 2’ deep. Other
models are available, but there is little difference in price, so it is hard
to go wrong with the 70325 thermostatic system.
4. Is condensation a problem?
No, not if you seal the cabinet and keep the cabinet door closed. This prohibits
the humidity from the surrounding air getting inside the cabinet and causing
condensation to form.
5. Where is the best place to mount the Control Cooler and thermostat?
The Cooler can be mounted any place and at any angle and still perform the same.
At the top of the cabinet is best, because the cold air from the Control Cooler
will fall to the bottom and help cool the entire cabinet. A thermostat at the
top of the cabinet is best as that is the hottest spot due to the rising hot
air.
